BIG PICTURE FOUNDATION
FALL 2018 GLOBAL GALLERY
“Empowering children to use the arts to create a global community”
.

. . .. Children from all countries and faiths are invited to be part of BPF initiatives, which include 3 annual global galleries, community leadership projects, and collaborative special events. Big Picture Foundation accepts submissions from individual children and from group leaders. Kids may share any example of their art, as long as the work is considerate of global cultures. If submissions are based on BPF “Shared Themes,” the art is included in both the “Global Gallery” and in one of our “Shared Themes” galleries. Finally, we love publishing stories about how kids use the arts to strengthen their local, national, or global communities. While vacations and testing paused all art-making in our participating Teach for India affiliate schools, our brilliant Vidya Bhawan School teacher, Pragya Tank, remained hard at work protecting the welfare of children. We are honored to show her TED talk, “Schizophrenia through a Child’s Lens.”

“In this week long program, ArchForKids challenged children to redo the library green at the main entrance. Kids worked in teams to brainstorm and make models of the park. They presented their work to city officials and families. Then the models were displayed in the library. August 2018″ – ArchForKids

Big Picture Foundation Home Base Group, Rye, NY
Home base kids help with the administration of the program. The kids come together for organizational meetings and make art to contribute to each global gallery. We do not specifically run a home base art class. Home base kids typically make their art on their own or at BPF community events that they help organize. . . Event: Home Base Group Participates in the RyeACT Speak Out Rye Arts Center, May 8th 2018 RyeACT focuses on making exciting opportunities available to kids. By encouraging leadership and learning, RyeACT veers teens away from substance abuse and toward community engagement. Big Picture Foundation was so honored to be included in the their May 8th Speak Out. While it happened months ago, it was 8 days after our submission deadline, so the event wasn’t covered in our Spring Global Gallery. The Speak out gave kids the opportunity to talk about their passions, concerns, struggles, and goals. Local organizations created displays, outlining a range of opportunities for kids. . #publicserviceannouncementart
